About Me

RUTA RUDMINAITE
I am a 21 year old clothing pack-rat who sits in random corners reading books, taking photographs and drinking more black coffee than is healthy. I love everything about Paris and can often be found listening to French music, whilst scrolling through endless pages on Tumblr looking at beautiful photography. I practice the art of colour coordination, obsessively write in my agenda, and pretend I have a soundtrack to my everyday life. I give names to inanimate objects and make a wish when I spot 11:11 on a clock.

Who takes your outfit photos?
I usually either take my own outfit photos with a tripod and timer or I ask my father to take them for me. He's gotten used to how I like my outfit posts, so if I don't feel like lugging out my tripod, my dad's there to help. My photoshoots on the other hand are basically always shot alone.

What kind of camera do you use?
I currently use a Canon EOS 60D with an EF-S 18-200mm F3.5-5.6 IS zoom lens.
From June 2009 to June 2012 I was using a Sony Alpha DSLR-A200 with an 18-70mm zoom lens.
Photos before June 2009 were taken with a Canon point and shoot camera.

What do you do when you're not blogging?
I like spending time with my family and friends, reading, obsessively taking photographs, watching old movies, writing, colour-coding, spending endless hours on YouTube, 80s aerobics/Zumba.

Who are your favourite designers?
I have a soft spot in my heart for John Galliano for Christian Dior, but I also really enjoy collections by Valentino (such an adorable man), Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, and finally Chanel for the history and the classic details that Karl Lagerfeld has maintained. The Rodarte sisters and Christopher Kane are also quite a pleasant surprise because of the modernity and daring they put forth.

Ps. I also have a small obsession with Vera Wang wedding dresses (I own a Vera Wang wedding book and it's probably one of my favourite things).

Why did you start  blogging?
I started blogging when I was in my senior year of high school. As much as I didn't mind wearing a uniform, after four years of the same thing I was incredibly bored. It also didn't help matters that dress-down days at school turned into another uniform day because practically every single person wore the exact same thing but in different colours. I felt so contained, like I was stuck in a bubble, so after following a few fashion blogs, I decided that it was time for me to share my personal style with the world. I didn't have friends who were as captivated by the world of fashion as I was, so blogging became an escape from the everyday, and it allowed me to feel like I belonged in a community of like-minded people (it still does).

Where do you get your inspiration?
I grew up with a mom who is a Textiles Engineer, whose also incredibly creative, so fashion has always been a part of my life. I definitely look up to my mom and her creative eye, but my dad also has impeccable taste, so I naturally look to them for the classiness and poise that I try to bring to my outfits. Yet, I'm also a tad more free-spirited than them, so I enjoy trying out a lot of "stranger" outfits. Inspiration also comes from all the literature I read, the magazines I flip through, other fashion blogs, films, nature, people on the street, and really beautiful photography (plus a myriad of other things).

Other information.
I recently finished up my undergrad and plan to spend some time figuring out what I should do with my life. This little fashion blog will probably also expand to something a little bit more than just fashion. So keep your eyes opened!
