tweed-le dee

Wearing a vest made by my mom, Tristan & America skirt, vintage bracelets, amber bracelet from Lithuania, gifted necklae, unknown top and tights, Doc Martens.

I've always been a fan of tweed. Returning to my spiels about how certain types of clothes and silhouettes make me feel comfortable, this fabric is one of those little things that makes me think of home. It might sound silly, but I think if I were to move out or go study somewhere else, tweed would always make me think of home. In all honesty, it would make me homesick. When I was little my dad had this tweed jacket that he would wear all the time, and I think from all my childhood memories about what my parents wore, that jacket sticks out like a sore thumb. There really is something wonderful in being able to associate clothes or even certain fabrics to memories of childhood.

pattern mash-up

Wearing an Anthropologie blouse, H&M skirt, Hue tights, Hush Puppies loafers, Michael Kors watch, Holt Renfrew earrings and necklace, gifted rings.

I am a pattern lover. I have often dressed up in a mash-up of patterns only to have my parents give me wide-eyed looks. But I can't help it, pattern mixing is probably one of my favourite things. This mouse print blouse is probably the most adorable piece of clothing in my closet. I stood in line for one hour waiting to buy this blouse, but it was so worth it. This blouse is a clear representation of my personality, quirky and random, because honestly, what is more random then having a piece of cheese on your blouse.

I hope you're all having a wonderful Monday. Mine is consumed by essay writing, but the finish line is very close!

fury

Wearing ------ shirt, H&M skirt, gifted necklace, unknown tights, Aldo shoes, Juicy Couture bracelet and random bracelet, Michael Kors watch, Estee Lauder lipstick in Fury.

I think red lips are something that people either love or hate to wear. I personally love red lips and if I only had to have one lipstick, it'd be in the brightest red colour I could lay my hands on. I always feel so powerful when I wear red lips. It's as if I can conquer the world. Someone once told me that they don't like wearing red lips because they thought the attention they received made them vain. I thought that was a bit sad, because there is definitely nothing vain about being looked at because you're wearing red lips. People obviously direct more attention to you when you wear a bright lip colour, but that gives me confidence. I think if you can feel comfortable wearing red lips, you can gain confidence from the "attention" that you do get. Power to the red lips!

"When I was young, I set my heart upon a red balloon
I knew of nothing that was nicer than a red balloonI tried to hold tightly to the string but still I saw it fly away

Now, I am grown and find my heart is in another's handsAnd all the love I have to give is in his careCan our love stay alive until another springWill he hold the string or let it go too soon?Too soon lies the red balloon"- Judy Garland (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6j427qLJXLA)

the red beret

Map nails! Tutorial coming up soon on my YouTube channel!

Wearing a vintage dress, Chinese Laundry over the knee socks, Silks tights, Jacob sweater, gifted necklace from Links of London, gifted rings, amber bracelets from Lithuania, Hush Puppies loafers, beret from Paris.

I'm currently reading this lovely book by Linda Grant called The Thoughtful Dresser. The book was actually recommended to me by a woman who is mentioned throughout the book, and it's becoming one of my favourite fashion books. I'm going to be doing a video review of the book and an outfit inspired by the book cover, but I wanted to mention it in brief now. At one point in the book, Linda talks about clothes reflecting certain memories, and she says that she could write her autobiography by simply looking at the clothes that she owns. When I read this I honestly wanted to call her up and just tell her how incredible she is for writing down exactly how I feel. I have always told my friends and family that the way I remember certain events in my life is through the clothes that I wore. This dress for example reminds me of wonderful evenings out with friends, class days that were horrendous or otherwise quite lovely, and so on.
This red beret reminds me of when I was in Paris this summer. I remember the exact spot I bought it, and I remember looking up to see the Eiffel Tower in all of its glory, thinking that I couldn't be luckier because in that moment I was in my favourite place in the entire world. I wore the beret out for the first time this season and I was in the best mood all day because I kept remembering how lovely Paris is on a sunny summer day.
